Epidemiological services and programs follow disease trends; investigate any possible disease instance or outbreaks; provide testing and treatment; and offer preventive services and education.
Disease Surveillance (Epidemiology) – The Florida Department of Health in Walton County Epidemiology Nurse has the responsibility is to investigate reported cases of communicable disease and maintain an active reportable disease surveillance program. This involves the collection and analysis of health data; investigation of acute outbreaks; and education and consultation with county, local and private health agencies on infectious diseases.
