About Us

Florida Department of Health in Walton County

The Florida Department of Health in Walton County (FDOH-Walton) and the Walton Community Health Center, Inc. (WCHC) provide public health and medical services in Walton County.  The Walton County Health Department began providing services from the upper floor of what is now the DeFuniak Springs Police Department in the early 1950’s.  Our first building was constructed in 1956.  Today, the health department has more than 100 employees in four locations in Walton County working to serve your needs in areas that range from controlling infectious diseases to safe drinking water to disaster preparedness.  DOH-Walton works closely with the County Commissioners, the Emergency Response Division and other local and federal agencies to protect the health and welfare of Walton County residents and visitors.  For more information about the Florida Department of Health:  https://www.floridahealth.gov/about-the-department-of-health/about-us/index.html
