WALTON COUNTY– The Florida Department of Health in Walton County (DOH-Walton) recently announced the launch of theFlorida Health Cleans Up!Project in support of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) roadside litter prevention media campaign released earlier this year titled "Drive it home…Keep Our Paradise Litter Free."

Locally, twenty-eight DOH-Walton employees are participating inFlorida Health Cleans Up!Almost one and a half miles of State Highway 83 will be "swept" quarterly by this team starting at the intersection with US Highway 90 to Walton Road. DOH-Walton began this project on November 5, 2014.

"We are excited about participating in this project. It takes all of us working together as a community to keep Walton County beautiful and free of liter," stated Holly Holt, DOH-Walton Administrator and Health Officer. "Doing simple outside activities such as picking up trash is an easy way to be physically active. We hope that DOH-Walton can lead by example as it works to promote a healthy and active lifestyle."
