TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Walton County is taking appointments for back-to-school immunizations for grades K-12. To avoid the back-to-school rush, DOH-Walton encourages all parents to come in before schools reopen in August.
“I encourage all parents to be aware of the shots required for their children this school year,” said DOH-Walton Health Officer Holly Holt. “Besides being required upon entering certain grade levels, immunizations help protect from countless childhood illnesses.”
Immunization services are available by appointment at the DOH-Walton clinics. The phone number for appointments is 850-892-8015.
Immunization Clinic hours of operation are:
DeFuniak Springs - 362 State Highway 83
Tuesday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Friday – 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Santa Rosa Beach – 361 Greenway Trail
Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Free immunization services are available for eligible children, birth - 18 years of age, enrolled in elementary, middle or high school. New and transferring students, Kindergarten students, and those in the seventh grade will need to provide proof of immunizations prior to school enrollment. Returning students should have already completed the required vaccine series.
Students who are preparing to leave for college should also review their immunization records to be sure they are up to date.
